Steven "Steve" Fritts, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on December 8, 2023, at the age of 72, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on August 29, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Betty Fritts, Steve grew up with a spirit of dedication that would become the hallmark of his life.
Steve was a man who wore many hats with honor and pride. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and continued his commitment to service in the Army National Guard. His career in law enforcement further exemplified his dedication to the community and the nation he loved so dearly. Steve’s loyalty and patriotism were unwavering, and his service as a security specialist was a testament to his steadfast character.
In his personal life, Steve was the epitome of a loving husband. He and his beloved wife, Phyllis Fritts, shared a beautiful bond for 10 years, filled with moments of joy and the simple pleasure of each other’s company. Steve’s romantic gestures, like sending Phyllis her favorite apricot and red roses, were just one of the many ways he expressed his deep affection for her.
Steve’s generosity and gentle nature extended to his family. He is survived by his devoted wife Phyllis; his son, Joshua Fritts (Meagan Files) of Texas; his brother, Bob Fritts of Indiana; his grandchildren, Zelda and Brendon; and his daughter-in-law, Michelle Zoe Fritts. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert Fritts, whose memory he held close to his heart.
Steve’s interests and hobbies were a reflection of the man he was. As a dedicated patriot, he not only served his country with loyalty but also lived his life with a deep sense of national pride. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
