Mr. Sumpter Earl Owens of Westville, FL passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Pleasant Home Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Owens was born in Geneva County on August 10, 1923 to the late Joseph Owens and Grace Mixon Owens. He was a business owner all of his life. At the time of his death, he and his wife owned and operated City Café and Oyster Bar in Geneva. He was preceded in death by one brother, Adolph Owens; five sisters, Madge Owen, Athalone Faulk, Polly Smith, Bessie Riley and Essie Mae Owens; and one daughter-in-law, Rachel Owens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Louise Lane Owens; one son, Robert Owens, both of Westville, FL; daughter, Kendra Naylor of Graceville, FL; sister, Dot Kelley of Montgomery; five grandchildren, Starla Lusk (Pat) of Lexington Park, MD; Scott Owens (Tonya) of Geneva; Natasha Walker (Steven) of Bonifay, FL, Kevin Naylor of Orlando, FL and Carrie Gavaller (Jason) of Chipley, FL; ten great grandchildren, Amanda Lusk, Stephanie Hawkins (Patrick), Morganne Lusk, Jason Lusk, Tyler Walker, Morgan Naylor, Jasmine Shiver, Dylan Gavaller, Corwin Shiver and Zeke Gavaller; and two great great grandchildren, Dylan Lusk and Jaxon Hawkins.
