Terrence Whitney Butler, a resident of Dothan, Alabama died Sunday, May 3, 2020. He was 70.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Butler was born to the late Thomas Wesley Butler Jr. and Dorothy Danford Butler on October 1, 1949. He excelled in sports, business, and friendship, making his strides in track, football, and baseball at Dothan High School, graduating in 1967. Participating in many activities throughout his childhood, most notably Little League and Pony League Baseball, achieving the pinnacle of State Playoffs. Terrence was an avid Cub Scout for many years, while his mother was the Den Mother. He enjoyed his fellow athletes and friends throughout his life He received his bachelor’s degree in Building Science and Construction from Auburn University in 1971. He truly was “Proud to Be an Auburn Tiger”. Terrence was an avid supporter of Auburn Tiger Football, savoring time spent in Auburn with the players who became his friends.
After earning his degree, Mr. Butler began work with Burt Williams Construction Company, later buying the business from Mr. Williams. He always loved being on a construction site and bringing the project to completion. He constructed many sites throughout the southeast. Fishing, gardening, grilling, cooking and music filled his leisure time. Hard work, pleasurable hobbies, laughter with friends and family was the embodiment of his life.
Mr. Butler is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Teresa Butler; two stepchildren, Tabitha Wright (Keith), and Dennis Phelps (Kasandra) all from Dothan; a sister Dawn Martin, Key West, Florida; four grandchildren, and many cousins.
