Mr. Thomas Foster Leonard a resident of Dothan, AL passed away December 21, 2011. He was 76.


 


Visitation will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011, at 9:30 A.M. with services to follow at 11 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, Dothan, AL with Patty Farrington, Kelly Colbert and Gary Cornelius officiating. Graveside services will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.


 


Mr. Leonard was born on December 18, 1935 to William Alex and Tressie Powell Leonard in Florala, Al. He worked in the homebuilding and land development business for over 50 years.


 


Mr. Leonard was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 38 years. He had served as Chairman of the Deacon Body, Finance Committee, Personnel Committee, and was presently Chairman of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee and long time Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Friendship Life Connection Group where he co-taught since its beginning. He also was a member of Gideon International along with Masonic Lodge #466 F&A.M. of AL and Alcazar Shriners International.


 


Mr. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wynell Skinner Leonard; his sons Thomas Michael (Angie) Leonard of Dothan and Paul Stephen (Jan) Leonard of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, John Roberts Leonard, Julia Alexa Leonard of Birmingham, April Smith and Kristen Boutwell of Dothan; great-grandchild, Parker Boutwell; one sister, Georgia Irene (Jim), Segrest of Pensacola, FL one brother, William Franklin Leonard of Dothan, AL and brother-in-law, Franklin E. Skinner of Dothan along with a niece, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.


 


The family would like to extend a special thank you for the hard work of Dr. Sam Tarwater, who was not only his doctor but also his friend through this ordeal, and his team of doctors, Dr. Spedale, and Dr. McAllister. The family would also like to thank the hard working nurses and staff of the third floor of Flowers Hospital.


 


Pallbearers will be Don Askew, Joe Copeland, John Downs, Young Folsom, Harry Wayne Parrish, David Parsons, Ansley Whatley and Trip Watley.


 


Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Life Connection Group and the CCHS class of 1954.
