Mr. Thomas Jackson “Joe” Parker of Geneva, Alabama passed away Thursday, January 05, 2012. He was 95.
Memorialization will be by cremation with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Parker was born December 3, 1916, in Shelby County, Alabama to the late Henry W. and Dasie Ann Gardner Parker. He lived in Indiana for more than 60 years and after retirement from the automotive business he moved back to Alabama. He was an accomplished carpenter and he enjoyed fishing. Mr. Joe was a very loving father and grandfather and was loved by everyone who knew him. On February 15, he and his wife Van would have celebrated 71 years of marriage. He was a member of the Geneva Senior Center and he attended Westside United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents a daughter, Charmelee Joy, as well as twelve brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Vanita D. Perry Parker, Geneva; two sons: Thomas S. “Doc” Parker, Geneva, and Leland L. Parker, Bloomington, IN; six grandchildren; Scott Parker, Jana Parker, Jack Parker, Hannah Parker, Gregory Parker, and Bryan Peters; one great-grandchild, Taylor Lynn Parker; one sister, Dasie E. Perry (Stanley), Pensacola, FL; a special friend, Glory; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
