OZARK…Mr. Tom “Buck” Dickey (Captain, United States Marine Corps, Retired), a resident of Ozark died late Sunday morning, June 23, 2024, at his home. He was 86.
Celebration of Life Services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 6, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Edward Soto officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development Department, 875 N Randolph St, Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
Mr. Dickey, son of the late William Thomas Dickey and Myrtie Mae Mills Dickey, was a native of Midway, Florida. He joined the United States Marine Corps at an early age and served twenty-one years. Mr. Dickey retired with the rank of Captain and served two tours in Vietnam. After retirement, he moved to Ozark in 1975, and graduated from Wallace College with a degree to be an electrician. He worked until 2000 when he retired completely. Mr. Dickey enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, and working in his shop. He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Sheperd and a brother, Cody F. Dickey.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-six years, Joan Carpenter Dickey, Ozark; two daughters, Linda Heck (Greg), Hoover and Karen Paramore, Ozark; his son, Bill Dickey, Lawrenceville, Georgia; a sister, Shirley Kirkland, Dothan; seven grandchildren, Justin Heck, Sydney Heck, Christopher Heck, Clayton Paramore, Tyler Dickey, Ashley Dickey, and Haley Dickey; two great-grandchildren, Robert Paramore(Jennifer) and Samuel Paramore; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
