Tommy Wayne Eldridge, 58, of Ashford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family following a long courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 16,2024

The family will be receiving friends and family at Amanda's home, located at 1203 Stadium Street, Dothan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday June 20, 2024, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Andrew Kogutz officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Wayne was born in Henry County on February 12, 1966, to Carlos and Jeanette Eldridge of Ashford Alabama. He was raised in Dothan Alabama and attended Dothan High School.

Wayne was co-owner of Eldridge Welding for several years. After the closure of the business, he returned to  his true love of rebuilding custom cars, transforming metal into masterpieces that sparked up conversation wherever he went.

A man of many interests, Wayne always looked forward to drag racing with his buddies, going fishing with his wife, or spending time on the "patio" with his closest friends. But his most favorite time was spent on Sundays with his family, often grilling and enjoying a good game of softball with the kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for his love, laughter, and countless memories he created.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Eldridge; niece, Ashley Eldridge; grandparents, Carl and Bernice Eldridge and Henry "Slim” and Polly McGowan; and several aunts and uncles.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Kim Eldridge of Ashford; his cherished children, Amanda Hutcherson of Dothan, Tommy (Emma) Eldridge of Echo, and Kayla (Scotty) Owens of Rehobeth. He was affectionately known as Poppy to his adored grandchildren: Slate Langenkamp, Lennon and Liam Hutcherson, Carly, Knox, and Buckley Eldridge, and Kayleigh and Emma Owens. He is also survived by his loving mother, Jeanette Eldridge of Ashford; cherished mother-in-law, Mary Jacobs of Ashford; brothers, David (Rena) Eldridge of Ashford and Richard Eldridge of Webb; sister, Carla (J.R.) Coleman of Webb; sister-in-law, Dawn Warren of Slocomb; brother-in-law, Kenny Jacobs of Oklahoma City; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and a circle of friends who became more like family to him.

Pallbearers will be Randy Worley, Ed Knowles, Jacob Eldridge, Todd Swadner , Timmy Marshall, and Steve Marshall.

Honorary pallbearers Doug Simmons, Timmy Draughon; David Eldridge, and Zach Worley.

A special thanks to Shannon and the loving staff of Southern Care Hospice.
