Tommy Martin (Retired Dothan Police Lieutenant) passed away at his residence on April 3, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Marsh and Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton officiating. Burial will follow in Madrid City Cemetery with full Police Honors by The Dothan Police Honor Guard. Honorary Pall Bearers will be all Law Enforcement Officers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the funeral home and at other times will be at the family residence.
Tommy was born in Houston County, Alabama a son of the late Milton Maloy and Gwendolyn Louise Boyett Martin. He was a graduate of Rehobeth High School. Mr. Martin dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Dothan with loyalty, integrity and courage during his thirty three years in law enforcement. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps and was of the Baptist Faith. He was also employed with the Farley Nuclear Plant for the past two years, working with their security department.
Tommy was preceded in death by a brother, Hulon Martin and a sister, Linda Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Shirah Martin; a son, Thomas Blake Shirah; six daughters, Cassandra Chambliss, MeLena Tyson, Danielle Shirah, Tiffany Johnston, Tammy Coker and Michelle Sellers; three brothers, Joe Mack Martin, Olan Martin and James Martin; five sisters, Betty Wells, Mary Proctor, Janie Wallace, Patricia Radosevich and Elizabeth Horne; nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
