Mr. Tony M. Kelly of Dothan passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at SAMC. He was 68.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Larry Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Slocomb City Cemetery (adjacent to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church) with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 until service time.
Mr. Kelly was born on February 15, 1943 in Geneva County, AL to the late General Clyde and Agnes Black Kelly. Mr. Kelly grew up in Slocomb, attended Slocomb High School and University of Alabama, Huntsville.
Of Mr. Kelly’s jobs, his years spent in the South Pacific, Kwajelein Missile Range, was his favorite. He was hired for three months but stayed for thirteen years. He loved and was faithful to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Parker and Charles Kelly, and sisters, Mary Virginia Kelly Murphy and Emma Frances Kelly Wood.
Survivors include his sister: Kathryn Kelly Tidwell
(Jessie Ralph) of Dothan; and a brother: Max Kelly (Jackie) of Dothan; two sister-in-laws: Carrie Clark Kelly of Dothan and Helen Nelson Kelly of Pensacola. He is survived by a host of much-loved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a large much appreciated and loved extended family.
