Valgene Weldon, a resident of Cottonwood, Alabama died Monday, September 21, 2020 at Southeast Health. He was 78.
Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Friday, September 25, 2020 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Harrellson officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service in Cowarts Cemetery, Cowarts, Alabama with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1PM to 2PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Weldon was born to the late Vester and Maudi Johnson Weldon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. After serving his country in the United State Army for six years, he joined the work force spending 21 years at Spectra Care as the Facilities Supervisor before retirement in 2004. He was an avid Alabama Fan (ROLL TIDE) and loved his Atlanta Braves in the summer along with watching his favorite drivers on the Nascar circuit. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack, Rudolph, and Talmedge Weldon.
Survivors include his wife of thirty two years Elizabeth Weldon; one son, Eddie Cureton (Rita); two daughters, Connie Carrasco (David) and Denise Davidson (Boyd); three brothers Charles Weldon (Joyce), Donald Ray Weldon (Joyce), and Ralph Weldon; two sisters, Patsy Head and Ann Sanders (Wayne); nine grandchildren , 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Acting pallbears will be Stephen Cureton, Mitchell Culpepper, Terry Vansyoc, Chris Childree, Stanley Walls, and Murray Culpepper.
