Mr. Vernon Leroy Skeen, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, June 25, 2021, at his home. He was 84 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Skeen will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 1, 2021, in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with Reverend John Baxter and Reverend Donna Cumbie officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Mr. Skeen was born January 20, 1937 in Moran, Kansas to the late Andrew Jackson Skeen and Mary Elsie Lee Skeen. He served in the United States Army and a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ann Winslow Skeen; one daughter, Andrea Beth Skeen; nine sisters and brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Reverend Tom Skeen (Jane) of Notasulga and Philip Skeen (Jennifer) of Dothan; grandchildren, Cara Hinckley (Patrick), Jennifer Rexer (Theron), Cameron Blondheim (Blaire), Eliana Skeen, Elijah Oliver and Alexis Oliver; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Maude Evelyn Williams of Sun City, Arizona and Mary Alice Richardson of Wichita, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Kate Dossett, 165 Private Road 1569, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
