Obituary: Walter Glen Mynatt
Walter Glen Mynatt, b. May 19, 1942, passed away on May 19, 2024. Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Marie; his parents, Freadaulph Lawrence and Francis Marie; and his sister, Buelah Nadine. He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Glen (w. Amy Marie), and Michael Lawrence (w. Leslie Diane), and two grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Hadden (h. Hunter Warren) and Lauren Hope. Walt served in the United States Air Force in Osaka, Japan, returning home to Kansas City to become a member of Pipefitters Local #533 in March of 1965. Walt and Shirley served as youth Sunday School teachers throughout their lives together, influencing hundreds of young people. Walt loved to bowl, watch NASCAR and Indy Racing, and most of all, to fish. He was especially proud of the large-mouth bass he caught that allowed him to win a local bass fishing tournament. While he loved fishing, he mostly loved the time on the water with his two sons and granddaughters.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday June 3, 2024, in the chapel of Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119. The family asks for no flowers, rather donations made to one of the two following institutions:
In Memory of Walter G. Mynatt: Hillcrest Baptist Church, 500 Alberta Street Enterprise, AL 36330, or The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts 1300, Biscayne Boulevard Miami, FL 33132.
