Mr. Waylon Milton Tharpe of Hwy 87 South, Samson, Alabama passed away Monday, August 6, 2012. He was 63.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 9, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Jack Chancey officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Shady Grove Assembly of God Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until service time.
The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Comfort Care Hospice, 820 S. Three Notch St. Suite C, Andalusia, AL 36420.
Mr. Tharpe was born May 27, 1949, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Louie Frank and Lula Lee McCall Tharpe. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as well as the U. S. Marines. He was a member of New Life Worship Center in Samson.
In addition to his parents his brother, Houston Tharpe, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include four sons: Frank, Brannon, Gannon and George Tharpe; one sister, Virginia Gallapo, Palm Beach, FL; four brothers: Louie Tharpe, Aquilla, TX, Clayton Tharpe, Calahan, FL, Preston Tharpe, Samson, AL and Melton Tharpe, Griffin, GA; a number of grandchildren, special nieces, nephews and other extended family.
