Bernard Wayne Granberry, a resident of Dothan, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 82.
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Granberry will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1207 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Granberry was born July 23, 1932 in Cottonwood, Alabama. He was a graduate of Cottonwood High School and Auburn University. Mr. Granberry served the United States Army and worked with the United States Department of Agriculture his entire career retiring as the Southeast Regional Director of APHIS. He was a member of Ridgecrest and served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School at Extendicare. Mr. Granberry enjoyed the outdoors, serving people and spending time with family.
Mr. Granberry is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Jack Burnham and a brother, Myras Granberry.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Granberry, Dothan; son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Lori Granberry, Cottonwood, Daughter, Julie Simmons, Troy; grandchildren, Neil, Emma Granberry, Carley , Stevie Simmons; brother, Gerald and Betty Granberry, Dothan; sister-in-law, June Granberry, Cottonwood; brothers-in-law, John and Kathy Drew, John Martin and Billy Joe and Carolyn Yance, all of Dothan.
