Mr. William Bertram Bauer, age 91, a resident of Dothan died Monday, February 20, 2017 at Flowers Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grace Anglican Church, 1401 N. Cherokee Ave., Dothan, AL, 36303, with Rev. Clark Cornelius. A wake will follow the service at the church. Burial with full military honors will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 1:30 Eastern Time.

Mr. Bauer was born on April 17, 1925 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was the son of Carl Theodore and Helen Reed Bauer. Mr. Bauer was a retired Major from the Air Force. He was a General Manager at GTE, and he also worked as a comptroller at City National Bank in Dothan and was employed at Sony. Retiring from all three. He was an active member of Dothan Elk’s Lodge, and Wiregrass Woodturner’s Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Carl Bauer, Jr. and Robert Bauer; four sisters: Rosalie Bland, Estella O’Brien, Jeanne Pacini and JoAnn Brohawn.
Survivors include his wife Betty Lee Fitzhugh Bauer; a son: William Fitzhugh Bauer (Barbara) Albertville, AL; three daughters: Karen Doswell (Samuel) Niceville, FL, Michelle Bauer, Dothan, AL, Lisa Edmunds (Robert) Paron, AK; grandchildren: Kristin Mullins, Rebeca Lake, Anna Bozeman, Christopher Doswell, Bill Bauer, Cindy Darby, Robert Sauer, Benjamin Sauer, Wes Edmunds, and Meagan Edmunds; three great-grandchildren: Allie Bauer, Aubrey Bauer and Hazel Rose Edmunds; one brother: David Bauer, Maryland.
