William Hubert “Bill” Deal, a resident of Cottonwood, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at his residence. He was 83.

 

Graveside services for Mr. Deal will be held at 3 PM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Memory Hill cemetery with Reverends John Smith and Karl Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 at the funeral home prior to the service.

 

Mr. Deal was born January 18, 1931 in Graceville, Florida to the late Andrew Jackson and Nancy Jenkins Deal. After graduation, Mr. Deal joined the United States Navy where he retired after 23 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for the US Postal Service and drove a truck for many years. Mr. Deal enjoyed woodworking, fishing and travelling.

 

Mr. Deal is preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Inez Deal, son, Denny Deal and a son in law, Tommy Powell.

 

Survivors include his children, Carol Powell, Billy E. Deal (Ely), David E. Deal (Margaret), Tony Deal (Barbara); 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; special friend, June Gay.

 

The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice and Calvary Baptist Church Cottonwood for their love and support shown to them during this time.
