ASBURY COMMUNITY…Mr. William Daniel “Dan” Snell (Sergeant First Class, Alabama Army National Guard, Retired), a resident of Asbury Community, died early Sunday evening, March 3, 2024, at his home. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the Asbury Methodist Church with Reverend Phil Craddock and Reverend Randy Adams officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors and Masonic Rites, will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Snell, son of the late Daniel Tillman Snell and Mary Jane Adkins Snell, was a lifelong resident of the Asbury Community. He was a 1955 Graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark. Mr. Snell was a member of the Clinton Lodge #287, Skipperville and was a Scottish Rite Mason. He retired after forty-six years’ employment with M.O. Carroll Grocery Company as a grocery buyer. Mr. Snell was a veteran of the Alabama Army National Guard and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church where in earlier years he served on the Church Administrative Board and Chairman of the Cemetery Committee. Mr. Snell was an avid Auburn University Football Fan. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Marie Gulledge Snell and Sue Sculley Snell; a daughter, Martha Fultz.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Joyce Childree Snell, Asbury Community; five daughters, Elizabeth Snell Langley (Rufus), Donna Snell Long, all of Opelika, Janice Kelly (Keith), Lakeland, Florida, and Melissa Sculley, Cleveland, Tennessee, and Angie Everage (Travis), Rehobeth; two sons, Dennis Sculley, Foley and Lamar Sheppard (Shirley), Skipperville; his sister, Carolyn Nolin (Charles), Asbury Community; his brother, Adkins Snell, Asbury Community; eleven grandchildren, Jonathan Langley, Kacie Credle (Cliff), Shaye Schult (Eric), Hailey Fuller (Trent), Holden Everage, Hayden Everage, Kyle Sculley (Brianna), Jennifer Russell, Allison Woodall, Lakresha Hendrix, and Jessica Adams, Victoria Burdick, Stephanie Lear, and Ryan Kelley; eight great-grandchildren, Brycen Credle, Payton Credle, Magnolia Scult, Ian Fuller, Leon Fuller, Clark Fuller, Wyatt Fuller, and Campbell Sculley; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Clinton Lodge #287, Skipperville.
