Mr. William Franklin “Mr. B” Bludsworth, Sr. of Warren Road, Samson, Alabama passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2015.  He was 85.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016, in the Samson First United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Branch and Rev. James Hataway officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ino Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors and Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials contributions may be made to the Samson First United Methodist Church, 204 W. Main Street, Samson, AL 36477.

Mr. Bludsworth was born February 18, 1930, in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Elmer Edgar and Annie Lee Donaldson Bludsworth. Since childhood, his family fondly referred to him as “Wig”.  He was a graduate of Samson High School and a 1958 graduate of Auburn University.  While at Auburn he was initiated into the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force as well as the U. S. Army with more than 20 years of service.  Before returning to Alabama, he lived in Georgia where he owned a construction and landscaping business.  For a number of years, while living in Samson, he was the Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts Troop 91.  In his later years, he was a substitute teacher for the Samson School System.  Mr. B loved “those kids” and always wanted to be a positive influence in their lives.  He was a faithful member of the Samson First United Methodist Church and thoroughly enjoyed attending church until his health began to fail.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Rita Grice Bludsworth, a son, William F. “Will” Bludsworth, Jr., as well as four siblings, Mary Cawthon, Diane Williams, JoAnn Bowman and Charles Bludsworth all preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sisters: Doris Blickenstaff of Clermont, FL and Elaine Hataway (James) of the Ino Community; two brothers: Sam Bludsworth (Stella) of the Ino Community and Billy Bludsworth (Jenny) of Cibolo, TX; several special nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who will fondly remember “Mr. B”.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Jan Dixon and the staff of Greenwood Assisted Living; special sitters: Laura Clark, Faye Bryan, Rhonda Stone, and Linda Gail Johnson, as well as Gentiva Hospice, nurses and special hospice aides, Jessica Gilmore and Mary Lewis, for all their tender love and care.
