William H. Woodham, passed away on June 23, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama, just three days shy of his 84th birthday. Born on June 26, 1939, in Donalsonville, Georgia, William was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, whom he married on September 21, 1957, Luetrell Woodham, his brother, Fred Woodham, and several nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him. William was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Woodham and Flora Mae Newsome Woodham, as well as his brother Howard Earl Woodham.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, William served his country with honor and distinction. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career in telecommunications, working with GTE and eventually retiring after 30 years with Verizon. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Luetrell, exploring new places and creating lasting memories together. An avid fisherman, William could often be found casting a line on Lake Seminole. His appreciation for country and bluegrass music was well-known among his friends and family, and he could often be found tapping his foot or singing along to his favorite songs.
Funeral services for William will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Wallace Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family will be accepting flowers.
