Mr. William Thomas “Bill” Coffey, a resident of Ozark, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, in Dale Medical Center. He was 91 years old.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 9, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Mr. Coffey was born February 15, 1932 in LaFayette, Georgia to the late Howard Gordon Coffey and Carrie Lee Williams Coffey. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force as a flight-line mechanic and with the Strategic Air Command. He lived in Japan while serving in Korea. Following his military service, he moved to Montgomery, Alabama and worked with Civil Service. Mr. Coffey moved to Columbus, Mississippi and worked with the Golden Triangle Community College in Starkville, Mississippi where he taught electronics and aviation technology. Later they moved to Ozark where he taught at the Alabama Aviation and Technical College. Bill loved gardening, fishing and was a Tennessee Volunteer, Atlanta Braves and Auburn fan.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patricia “Pat” Hood Coffey of Ozark; one son, Howard Mark Coffey (Latisha) of Level Plains. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1971 Deese Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
