Mr. Willie David Wilson, 85, of Donalsonville, Georgia passed away Friday, November 3, 2023.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Wilson will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the St. Mathis Baptist Church, 101 McEachin Rd. Cowarts, Alabama 36321 with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The creator of Thin Bummer was born on February 4, 1938, in Troy, Alabama, to Hattie Mae
Jones and Kyser Wilson, Sr.
He was predeceased by four loving siblings, Marion & quot; LC" Wilson, Annie Francis Wilson, James Wilson, and Charles Wilson. He was a wonderful son, father, uncle, cousin, and teacher, who instilled Christian values in five children.
Throughout his life, he lived out his Christian faith. His academic achievements led him to
graduate from Academy High School and Bay Cities Bible College with an associate degree in
Theology. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1958, he moved to
Oakland, CA. He worked as a laborer for 31 years, building much of what you see in the Bay
Area today. According to him, everyone should know Jesus, and he dedicated his life to this
cause.
It was at the East Bay Rescue Mission that he began his 52-year prison ministry journey,
serving in California, Alabama, and Georgia county and state prisons. One of his hobbies was
bible study, for which he created several bible study lessons, such as "The Believer's
Responsibility to Christ." He was also an avid fisherman, adored baseball, and loved action
films.
His loving family survives Willie: His sister Cloratee Hicks; brothers Kyser Wilson and David
Wilson; sons: Jimmie Lee Hardy, Dwayne A. Wilson, and Delmar D. Wilson; daughters: Kirtecia L. Griggs and La Trae D. Wilson. He is also survived by his only granddaughter Shaima S. Wilson and six grandsons: De Jaun D. Wilson, Malik D. Wison, Shamir A. Wilson, London M. Griggs, Jaylen D. Alexander, and Anane K. Wison. In addition to these, he was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
