Mrs. Alice Ruth Golden of Fadette went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 02, 2012 at Signature Health Care of North Florida surrounded by her loving family. She was 95.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May, 6 in New Teamon Baptist Church with Rev. Wendell Holmes and Pastor Lee Chorn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice or to the New Teamon Baptist Church Building Fund, 3813 S. County Road 85, Slocomb, AL 36375.
The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 and continue until service time.
Mrs. Golden was born on June 6, 1916 in Geneva County to the late Lennie and Valeta Holloway. She was employed with Van Heusen for five years before she started working as a private Home Health Care Provider for many families in the Wiregrass. She retired in 1985 and moved back to the Fadette community in order to care for her mother. Mrs. Golden was a faithful Christian. She was a member of New Teamon Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher in her earlier years, and was a member of the church prayer group for many years.
Mrs. Golden was preceded in death by the father of her children, Cleatus Golden; one daughter: Shirley Ann Golden; and her brothers: Roy and Floyd Holloway.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Alice Golden and John Hall of Fadette; a brother, Dewey Holloway (Jeanette) of Slocomb; a sister-in-law, Jackie Holloway of Napier Field; three grandchildren, Linda Hidle (Tim) of Dothan, Jeffrey Hall (Betsy) of Newnan, GA and Lisa Reeder (Chris) of Slocomb; nine great grandchildren, Brittany Reeder (Brad), Jessica Boutwell (Jeffrey), Lauren Ashley Hidle, Ashton Hall (fiancé Taylor Ergle), Fletcher Hall, Heather Hall, Tyler Reeder, Colby Reeder and Mason Reeder; one great-great grandchild, Anabella Reeder; and many nieces and nephews.
