Mrs. Alice Virginia “Ginny” Johnson Kavanaugh, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, July 26 2022, at her home. She was 73 years old.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Kavanaugh will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Joseph Bright officiating. Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Mrs. Kavanaugh was born August 22, 1948 in Newton, Alabama to the late Ewell William Johnson and Sybil Lorene Moore Johnson. She lived in Newton during her early years prior to meeting and marrying her husband. They lived in various places while he served in the United States Army. Mrs. Kavanaugh was the founder and President of the Lupus Foundation of Springfield, Missouri. After relocating to the St. Louis area, she was the Manager and Supervisor for Lucas Market Research. She later was Customer Service Manager for Wal Mart for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LTC John William Kavanaugh, Jr. (United States Army, Retired); her son, John William Kavanaugh V; and her brother, James Arthur Johnson.
Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Jackson (Chris) of Florence, Alabama; three grandchildren, Nicholas Kavanaugh, Austin Jackson and John Cooper Jackson; one brother, Allen Kenneth Johnson (Levene) of Newton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
