Ann Duke, age 77 of Dothan (Ardilla Community) passed from this life into the presence of her Lord on September 6, 2014. She believed, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” She was a life-long member of Bethel Baptist Church at Ardilla and taught Sunday School for 55 years.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday September 8, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend’s Ricky Plummer, Wallace Russell, Ray Cobb and Michael Douglas officiating.
The family will be receiving friends from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the services. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 E. Cottonwood Rd., Dothan, AL. 36301.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Walter B. Duke; her parents, Albert and Roxie Cobb; three sisters, Alma King, Lillie Hayman, and Jonnie Mae Cobb; two brothers, Rufus Cobb and Allen Cobb; daughter-in-law, Gail Taylor Duke and son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Anderson.
Mrs. Duke is survived by a daughter, Martha Anderson; a son, Larry Duke (Catrina); two sisters, Edna Whiddon and Sarah Douglas (M.C.); and three brothers, Jim Cobb, Sr., Jesse Cobb, and Gene Cobb, (Evelyn); grandchildren, Dana, Sharon, Gary, Cindy, Sara, Joshua, Kayla and Sam; four great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Jay, Stephen and Grayson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be: James Cobb, Lee Hall, Gary Duke, Morris Stringer, Carey Armstrong, and Dennis Whiddon.
Special thanks to the many who have helped to care for Ann, her current caregivers Shaunita Mitchell and Dorothy Murry, and the Welcome Sunday School Class of Bethel Baptist Church.
