Annie Lou Kirkland passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016, in Dothan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church on Cottonwood Road. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial service will follow at Howard’s Grove Cemetery.
Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Annie Lou was born October 23, 1928, to the late Rev. John Calvin and Alice Mixon Strickland. A graduate of Cottonwood High School, Annie Lou lived her entire life in the Wiregrass. She was a member of Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Albert Cauley Kirkland; siblings Dorothy (Hurley D) Guy, J.C. Strickland, and the Rev. Robert Strickland.
Survivors include her two sons: Rex Allen (Diane) Kirkland, Loxley; and Cauley Eugene (Brenda) Kirkland, Cottonwood; a brother, Dan (Bobby) Strickland, Cottonwood; sister-in-law Betty Strickland, Dothan; her grandchildren, Keith (Mary) Kirkland, Kim (Chris) Sasser, Raina (Chad) Macks, Celena (Chad) Boykin, and Scotty (Jacqlyn) Kirkland; her great-grandchildren, Hailey Sasser, Peyton Sasser, Aiden Macks, Kaleb Kirkland, Kathryn Kirkland, Kendall Kirkland, Paige Boykin, Paralee Boykin, and John Cauley Kirkland; and several nieces and nephews. Her friends and family will miss her warm smile, good humor, and beautiful alto singing voice.
