Armilla Mitchell Richards, age 86, of Dothan, AL and formerly of Donalsonville, GA passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 18, 2018 at Henry County Health and Rehab in Abbeville, AL.
Funeral services for Mrs. Richards will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Hatchett officiating. There will be a private interment later in the day. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Richards was born in Jackson County, FL on Oct. 5, 1931 to Judson and Mertis Hart Mitchell. She earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education and taught school for 33 years before retiring. She was a member of the Alabama Education Association and the NEA (National Education Association), as well as Spring Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, and cooking.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Karla Messenger and husband Chuck of Dothan, AL and her daughter, Teresa Richards of Montgomery, AL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her parents, Judson Mitchell and Mertis Hart Mitchell; her husband, Karl Richards; her sisters, Bonnie Swanner, Ellen Hastings, and Mildred Barfield; her brothers, Judson Ryals Mitchell, Arthur Mitchell, and Coy Mitchell; and her son, Michael Richards.
