Mrs. Audrey Irene Bell Cannon, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, June 30, 2024, following a long illness. She was 77 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cannon will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Bill Cannon officiating. Interment will follow in Bell’s Cross Roads Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home in Ozark from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Cannon was born March 12, 1947 in the Bell’s Cross Roads Community of Dale County, Alabama to the late Lonnie and Doris Knott Bell. Irene was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world and supported them by always being there. She was a loyal and dependable sister to her sisters and brother whom she loved dearly. Irene grew up in Newville, Alabama, where she married her high school sweetheart, Carroll Cannon, in 1964. They later moved to Ozark in 1974. She loved to go fishing when the kids were young, and always enjoyed the many beach trips with her family. They spent nearly 60 years together in marriage before Carroll’s death in 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Carlos Carroll Cannon; daughter: Megan Diane Cannon; granddaughter: Sarah Brooke Cannon; parents: Lonnie and Doris Bell; parents-in-law: Ralph and Grace Cannon; siblings: William Bell and John Simon Bell.
Irene is survived by her son: Darren Cannon (Cindy); daughter: Dawn West (Nate); grandchildren: Blake Cannon, Emma Cannon, Audrey West; siblings: Mae Ola Bess, Mary Ellen Andrews, Jewel Coots; special caretaker: Simona Wrinn as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Bell’s Crossroads cemetery fund would be appreciated. Bell’s Crossroads Cemetery Fund C/O John Bell, 8516 County Road 54, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
