Obituary: Mrs. Audrey Louise Fortune
Mrs. Audrey Louise Bradshaw Fortune went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb, with her grandson James Warren Smith, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Audrey was born February 27, 1933 in Slocomb Alabama to the late Warren and Lillie Bradshaw. She was the youngest of five children.
Affectionately known as "Granny" to many Audrey was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and aunt. She supported her Army husband moving with him to Texas, Colorado and Tennessee. Her heart was always in her hometown of Slocomb, Alabama. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. Her home was always open and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, her husband Henry Fortune, son Donnie Smith, daughter Charlene Trokey, brothers James Bradshaw and Calvin Bradshaw, sisters Jewel Lewis and Mattie Baxley, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter Janet Eslava (Clifton) and son Jim Smith (Debbie) Four grandchildren, Jimmy Smith, Stephanie Conkling, Becca Tomberlin and Christina Trokey including fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
