Ava Nell Langston Byrnes of Dothan and formerly of Osceola, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home after a brief illness Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was 83.


 


She was born May 27, 1931 in Longview, Mississippi. She traveled and lived in many towns as a Navy wife before moving to Dothan in 1998. She became a dedicated member of Selma Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.


 


She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Commander Henry Francis Byrnes, Jr. and her son, Raymond Arthur Byrnes.


 


She is survived by her children, Frances C. Minichini, Dothan, Kimberly S. Atkins (Jerry), Dothan, Donald Harbison, Dothan and Kathleen Ray, whereabouts unknown; grandchildren, Amber Rae Jones (Jamin), Centennial, Colorado, Michael Son (Jodi), Las Vegas, Nevada, Sara Nocher (Daniel), Crestview, Florida, Ashley Tucker, Richmond, Virginia, Donald “Merritt” Harbison II, Dothan, and twins Reagan and Reilly Harbison, Dothan; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Reverend Jackie Langston (Ruth) and Reverend Robert Langston (Dorothy); two sisters, Mary Schevermann (Chuck) and Audrey Watson (Ed)


 


The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
