Mrs. Avis Mildred Fuller of Dothan passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center surrounded by family. She was 91.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Pearson and Reverend John Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11:15 A.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. At other times, the family will be gathered at 2007 Spaulding Rd. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Greystone United Methodist Church.


 


Avis was born July 23, 1920, in Henry County Alabama, the daughter of the late Ealey L. Brackin and Maudie Riley Brackin. She moved to Midland City at an early age and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1938 from Midland City High School. She moved to Dothan and married Doug Fuller in 1939, and was married for 71 years. Mrs. Fuller worked with her husband in the business they started in 1965 as Sports Supply Co., now Southern Outdoor Sports. She was active in the business until 2000. She was a charter  member of The Mother’s Club, longtime member of the Ladies Auxilary of VFW, longtime member as well as teacher of the Esther Sunday School Class of Lafayette St. United Methodist Church and a member of the Grace-Love Circle. She was a longtime devoted member of Lafayette St United Methodist Church, now Greystone. She loved cooking large delicious meals for her entire family on holidays and special occasions.


 


She is preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Fuller, two infant brothers, and a sister, Mary Whatley.


 


Survivors include daughters, Sherry Dean and her husband, Bobby of Dothan; Rosalind Norman and her husband, Joe of Tallahassee, FL; son Ronald Fuller and his wife, Judie of Ashford; sister, Sara Williams of Dothan; brother, Ealey L. Brackin, Jr, and his wife, Shirley of Dothan; grandchildren, Steve Dean (Patsy), Brian Dean, Derek Fuller (Debbie), Jason Fuller (Kim), Joe Norman III ( Stacey), great-grandchildren, Brittany Haines (Brad), Jordan Dean, Brandon Dean, Sam Fuller, Claudia Fuller, Genevieve Norman, Henry Norman, great-great-grandchildren, Josh Haines, Maddie Haines, Will Haines, sisters-in-law, Margaret Fuller and Chloe Fuller, and numerous nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
