CLIO…. Mrs. Barbara Gail Laney Spivey, a resident of Clio, died late Friday evening, October 9, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 70.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Ariton Cemetery with a eulogy given by her sister, Linda Ramsey. A reception will follow at the family home in Clio. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Mrs. Spivey, daughter of the late Odell Laney and Robbie Lou Doster Laney, was a native of Ariton. She was a lifelong resident of the Ariton and Clio area. Mrs. Spivey was a member of the Ariton Baptist Church. She especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed helping others. Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Malcolm Spivey and a son, Kevin Lee Spivey.
Surviving relatives include her son, Brady Spivey (Danielle), Clio; three sisters, Linda Ramsey (Honorable Judge Ed Ramsey), Birmingham, Sara Frazier (Randy), Blue Springs, and Sandra Lee Winstead Ellis (Clay), Ozark; her brother, Andrew Odell Laney (Kathleen), Ariton; five grandchildren, Kerstan Leigh Spivey, Gage Spivey (Haley), Vela Gail Spivey, Shelby Baker, and Korbyn Baker; niece, Linda Sue Knotts (Mike) and their children who affectionately called her “Aunt Granny Barbara”, Dearra and Evan.
Barbara was especially thankful for her sister, Sara, who cared for her tirelessly during her long battle with cancer and niece, Linda Sue, for her loving care during her last days.
