Mrs. Barbara Helen Taylor, age 80, of Dothan passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 in Birmingham.
Born December 2, 1935 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late John and Lyndell Brown Morris, Barbara and her husband Floyd attended the Presbyterian Church of Fredricksburg, VA. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Barbara became a military wife, travelling with her Marine husband for over 30 years. She enjoyed cake decorating and was an avid collector. Her collections included dolls, spoons, teacups, miniature clocks, lighthouses, marbles, yoyos, china plates, giraffes, bears, and Marine Corp memorabilia. Barbara was an advocate for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and enjoyed working with this program each Christmas season. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John “Jackie” Morris, Dale Morris, and J. T. Simmons.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Taylor; her daughters, Debra Jean Smith (Michael) and Janet Kristine Taylor; her sons, Randall Shands Taylor, David Scott Taylor (Linda), and Gregory Stephan French, Jr.; her brother, Larry Morris (Linda); her sisters-in-law, Anne Morris and Betty Simmons; her grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Smith (Tiffany), Shane Michael Smith (Devin), Felicia Victoria Laclair, Veronica Paige Taylor, Victoria Ashley Taylor, and Mark Alexander Govoni; her great-grandchildren, Fallon Smith, Finch Smith, Maximus Carlos Vega, and Cayden Taylor Rescoe; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, November 28, 2016 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Marquis Winguard officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, Monday, November 28, 2016 one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Toys for Tots or toys may be dropped off at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
