Barbara Jeanell Mercer Buntin of Cottonwood went to be with her Lord at her home Monday evening, February 15, 2016. 


For the last 25 years, she shared her love for children through service as a kindergarten teacher at Cottonwood High School and retired September 1, 2015 due to illness.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Cottonwood First Baptist Church.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary that morning.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First Choice Hospice, 996 Claxton Avenue N., Elba, AL  36323. 


Mrs. Buntin was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lee and Mary Myrtle Middlebrooks Mercer, brother and sister-in-law, David Morris and Brenda Mercer, her sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Jeanette Mercer Brown Ferguson, Melvin Brown and Sanford Ferguson, brother-in-law, Don Buntin, and sister-in-law and her husband Dorothy and Aris Mixson. 


Survivors include her husband, Rex H. Buntin of Cottonwood, sister, Peggy Jo Mercer Miller Reeves (Doyle) of Cottondale, brother, James Allen Mercer (Diana) of Missouri and Panama City, FL, and sister-in-law, Myra Buntin Watford of Cottonwood, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
