Mrs. Bernice Williams Merchant, age 83, of Clayton, Alabama passed away on April 15, 2021 at her residence lovingly surrounded by family.

 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 2::00 pm at Glover Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton with Rev. Bob Cox officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing. Burial will follow in the Clayton City Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service.

 

Bernice was born August 23, 1937 in Greenville, South Carolina, the daughter of James T. Williams and Lizzie Mae Loftin Williams. She was a hardworking woman, who loved her family, especially her grandbabies. Her hobbies include sunbathing and cooking. Bernice was of the Baptist faith.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Merchant; one sister, Irene Poole; three brothers, Bob Williams, Roy Williams, and Ray Williams.

 

Survivors include: one son, James “Jim” Parks Jr. (Sara), IN; four daughters, Vickey Caraway, Clio, Susan McCall (Rickey), Blue Springs, Debbie Moore (Mike Moody), Abbeville, Lisa White (Steve), Clayton; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Gatlin (Chris), Kim White (Aaron), Angela Carpenter (Bobby), Tabitha Parks, Aldon Zoll, Tori Kate Parks, Oliver Parks; two great grandchildren, Iziaha Jones, and Alex Carpenter.

 

Flowers will be accepted.

 

Asked to serve as pallbearers: Steve “Clay” White Jr., Tim Shirah, Aaron Calloway, Tommy Moses III, Chris Gatlin, and Aldon Zoll.
