Mrs. Bessie Faye Thomas Lasseter, of Dothan, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019. She was 89.
Born March 30, 1930 in Geneva County to the late Joseph Horace and Susie Meadows Thomas, Bessie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She played basketball in high school and loved Alabama football. She enjoyed volunteering at Flowers Hospital and at church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and a past WMU director. She also enjoyed baking, reading, and gardening. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Elma Lasseter; her sons, Terry Paul Lasseter and Elma Steven Lasseter; two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her children; Gregory Lasseter, Jeffery (Judy) Lasseter, and Amy (David) Butler; daughter-in-law, Terry Lasseter; twin brother, Jessie (Bobbie) Thomas; her grandchildren, Zach (Brandee), Layne (Dudley), Nate, Sarah, Lauren (Scott), Brian, Brandi (Brandon), Megan, Bethany, Garrett, Colby (Caroline), and Graham; her great-grandchildren, Max, Diya, Norah, Devin, Dillan, Charlee Jo, Terran, Jaslene, Chasen, Kandilynn, Brier, and Adeline; several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, July 7, 2019 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301.
