 Mrs. Bessie Lou Moss Woodham, 73, of the Bay Springs Community went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 25, 2012. 


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Wyatt and Rev. Coley M. Holloway officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  Mrs. Woodham will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Woodham was born on March 28, 1938 in Slocomb, AL to the late Sam and Ruby Moss.  She graduated from Slocomb High School in 1956 and married Jesse Woodham on February 2, 1957; they were married for 42 years.  She attended Bay Springs Baptist Church.  She retired from Wicksburg High School lunch room, and she was also a caregiver for over 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and father of her children, Jesse Woodham; and one brother, Ellie Moss.  Survivors include her husband:  Jimmy Watson of Bay Springs; two sons:  Keith (Diane) Woodham of Slocomb, Jeff (Joanna) Woodham of Bay Springs; three daughters:  Shea (Billy) Russell of Wicksburg, Krystal (Shannon) Hatcher of Ashford, Samantha Woodham (James Jerkins) of Bay Springs;  grandchildren:  Emily (Matthew) Darnell of Dothan, Auston Woodham of Slocomb, Dustin and Trevor Woodham of Bay Springs, Tanner and Jesse Hatcher of Ashford, Emma and Dylan Jerkins of Bay Springs; one brother:  Sam Moss of Slocomb; two sisters:  Hilda (Edwin) Watford of Slocomb, Janice (Jimmy) Johnson of Atlanta; and one great grandchild on the way; many nieces and nephews.
