Mrs. Betty Drew Martin of Dothan passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2011, at her residence. She was 81.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Cloverdale Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the Cloverdale Baptist Church from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cloverdale Baptist Church Building Fund, 806 Dexter St., Dothan, AL 36301.


 


Mrs. Martin was born February 4, 1930, in Houston County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert Edward Drew and Bessie Richards Drew. Mrs. Martin was a member of Cloverdale Baptist Church and was involved in the choir, a Sunday School Teacher, WMU, and the Senior Adults for over 40 years. Mrs. Martin was a teacher for 33 years at Rehobeth High School and graduated from Houston County High School and the University of Montevallo.


 


She is preceded in death by a sister, Bobby Yance.


 


Survivors include her husband, John Martin of Dothan; daughter, Dawn McShaffrey and her husband, John of Auburndale, FL; son, John Michael Martin and his wife, Cathy of Auburn; sister, Annette Granberry and her husband, Wayne of Dothan; brother, John W. Drew and his wife, Kathy of Dothan; grandchildren, Natalie McCaskill (Scott), Emily Martin, Christopher McShaffrey, Monica McShaffrey, great-grandchild, Dalton McCaskill, and five brothers and sisters in laws.
