Mrs. Betty Merle Halstead White, age 84, a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday August 13, 2016 at Flowers Hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday August 15, 2016 at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Cottonwood with Reverend Kyle Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL. 36303.
The family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Monday at Union Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. White was born on June 8, 1932 in Houston County the daughter of James Harlie Halstead, Sr. and Linnie V. Hollon Halstead. She was retired from Sony after 15 years of service and was a homemaker. Mrs. White was a 1952 Graduate of Cottonwood High School and was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church in Cottonwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Johnny Earl Halstead and brother, James Leadon Halstead.
Survivors include: husband of 64 years, James (Buddy) White, Dothan; 3 daughters, Barbara Minor (Michael), Smiths Station; Carol Davis (Jim), Cumming, GA.; Judy Partin (Denzil), Midland City; son, Ronnie White (Renae), Dothan; 2 sisters, Lounette & Jean Halstead, Dothan; brother, Harlie Halstead, Jr. (Ouida), Dothan; 2 sisters-in-law, Peggy Halstead, Dothan and Ethel Halstead, Ashford; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several special nieces & nephews.
Active pallbearers will be: Johnny Halstead, Gary Givens, Jared Etress, Jamey Jackson, Eric Henderson and Blake Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Clayton Exum and Auston Chumney.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to the Staff of Gentiva Hospice and Flowers Hospital 6th Floor for all of their Service and Care.
Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
