Mrs. Betty Rose Childree “Gran Gran” Fountain, a resident of Skipperville, died early Thursday morning, September 17, 2020, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 87 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fountain will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 20, 2020, from Morgan Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Sewell and Reverend Bill Weed officiating. Interment will follow in Beersheba Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Sunday in the church from 2:00 P. M. until service time.
Mrs. Fountain was born November 26, 1932 in Dale County, Alabama to the late William Rex Childree and Erie Lorine Peacock Childree. She graduated from Dale County High School in Ozark. Mrs. Fountain worked with Western Union in Ozark until her marriage in 1954 when she became a homemaker. She later worked as a secretary with the Dale County Board of Education for 30 years. She was a member of Morgan Baptist Church for 58 years and served as the church treasurer for over 30 years. Betty enjoyed cooking, baking and pitching for her grandchildren. She was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, James Alvin Fountain; and one brother-in-law, Darren Childree.
Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Wisham (Chris) of Skipperville, Vicki Fountain (Mark) of Panama City Beach, Angela Davis (Houston) of Skipperville; grandchildren, Kesha Struwe (Chad) of Panama City Beach, Heather Joseph (Anthony) of Skipperville, Kyle Wisham (April) of Rainbow City, Alabama, Nick Davis (Jordan) of Skipperville, Garrett Davis (Callie) of Skipperville, Ben Hamilton of Panama City Beach; great grandchildren, Nathan Struwe, Logan Struwe, Emma Wisham, Conner Wisham, Owen Wisham, Alex Oden, Landon Joseph, Kaylie Joseph, Lawson Joseph, Hamp Davis, Noah Davis and Knox Davis; one sister, Geraldine Childree.
