Betty Ruth Strickland, a resident of Ashford, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at Wesley Way. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday February 17, 2017 at Rocky Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Dean Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the services at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Rocky Creek United Methodist Church cemetery fund, PO Box 677, Ashford, AL 36312.
Mrs. Strickland was born November 14, 1931 in Houston County to the late Willie Eric and Dollie Turner Smith. She had a love for sewing, quilting and the outdoors, gardening and fishing. She was a member of Rocky Creek United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Strickland is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Calvin Strickland, son, Ronnie Strickland and a sister, Pauline Hicks.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelia and Dennis Robbins, Dothan, Delane and Mike Parris, Birmingham; son, Steve and Cindy Strickland, Dothan; six grandchildren, Chris Harrison (Dawn), Kailua, HI, Haley Robbins, Tallahassee, FL, Erica Copeland (Kip), Dothan, Will Strickland (Erika), Greenville, SC, Derek Parris (Valerie), Birmingham, John Parris (Lindsay), Birmingham; eight great grandchildren, Jason and Lauren Harrison, Marisa and Katie Parris, Anna Kate and Caleb Copeland, Paxton and Finnley Strickland; four sisters, Sara Harper (Gerald), Annette Gamble(Robert), Marsha Webb, Martha Shelley (Bob).
