Mrs. Hughes was born July 30, 1945 in Geneva County to Bertha Ryles and the late Cody Ryles. Mrs. Hughes was loved by all that ever met her. She was the curator of the Byrd family history and the one that held and promoted our family reunions for more years than anyone can remember. She wanted all family history preserved and remembered for the generations to come. The Byrd family was blessed to have her and her passion for preserving of our family history. One of her greatest joys was being the secretary and communications coordinator for St. Paul for many years. She spent countless hours perfecting bulletins that she took great pride in for her church family. In Sue’s bible were many written notes and several times she had the words "This Is It" with the following scripture... "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this? John 11:25-26 NASB.
In addition to her father, in laws: Wilton A. and Cela Mae Hughes; brothers in law: Jesse L. Hughes and Jerry M. Hughes and numerous beloved family members all preceded her in death.
