Obituary: Mrs. Betty Welcher Taylor


 


Mrs. Betty Welcher Taylor of Abbeville passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Hartford Health Care. She was 75. 


A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Union Freewill Baptist Church in Abbeville, AL. 


Mrs. Taylor was born October 28, 1947 in Henry County to the late Julian Francis and Mattie Pearl Odom Welcher. Betty was a member of Union Freewill Baptist Church since she was eleven years old. She loved her church family dearly. She made a career of retail sales, retiring from Things Remembered at Wiregrass Commons Mall after many years. After retirement Betty enjoyed volunteering her time at Judson Thrift Store in Abbeville. She enjoyed and took pride of her many collections that she displayed proudly in her home. 


In addition to her parents, her daughter, Melissa Bish; sister, Evelyn Thorne; brothers: Dan and Joe Welcher, all preceded her in death. 


Survivors include, brother-in-law, Don Thorne; nephews: Mark Thorne (Brandy), Scott Thorne, and Patrick Welcher; nieces: Donna Robinson, and Stacey Welcher; several great nieces; great nephews; and other extended family and friends.
