Mrs. Beverly Cox Yankie Sorrells of Hartford, AL passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at her home from acute liver failure. She was 70.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Brother Clint McDonald officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Beverly was born on June 23, 1941 in Petersburg, Ohio to the late Bert Elmo and Thelma Cox. She was a 1959 graduate of Greenfield High School. She was employed by Robert Shaw Control in Hillsboro, Ohio. After moving to Florida in 1978, she was a supervisor for Sonitrol Security and later worked many years in the office of Callaghn Tire in Lakeland. She and her husband retired to Alabama in August 2011.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Gerald Sorrells of Hartford; her daughter, Kathy Yankie Purse (Kenneth) of Winter Haven, FL; her son, Mark Yankie of Hillsboro, OH; a stepdaughter, Joni Magrum of North Carolina; three grandsons: Clinton Yankie, Zane Yankie, Christepher Magrum; one brother: John Cox (Katie) of Winter Haven, FL; one sister: Mamie Joiner of Hillsboro, OH; several nieces and nephews.
