NEWTON…Mrs. Bina Lois Hutcherson Jones, a longtime resident of Newton, died Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2024, at her home. She was 101.


            Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, May 30, 2024, in The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day-Saints in Ozark with Counselor Stephen Sellaro officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. on Thursday at the church.


            Mrs. Jones, daughter of the late Lafayette Hutcherson and Sallie Eliza Jones Hutcherson, was a native of LaBelle, Missouri. She was a 1941 Graduate of LaBelle High School where she was the Valedictorian of the class. Mrs. Jones formerly lived in Liberty, Missouri where she went to the Kansas City Music Conservatory. Her late husband, Don C. Jones, a former World War II Pilot, was then recruited by the United States Army to be one of the first helicopter pilots for the Army, which was a new program at the time. She, her husband, and family moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for military training, before being transferred to Camp Rucker in 1953. Mrs. Jones taught piano and was an elementary school teacher at Houston Academy and Newton Elementary. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day-Saints.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Jeanette K. Jenne and Marilyn M. Denney; two sons, Daniel W. Jones and Paul M. Jones (Sheila), all of Newton; twelve grandchildren, Bruce Jenne (Annette), Brian Jenne, Libbie Lala (Laurant), Alan Roberts, Dale Roberts, Anita Pinto, Miriam Roberts, Daniel Jones, Nicholas Jones, Lynn Hill (Randall), Jessica Jones, and Sarah Jones; nineteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
