Mrs. Blondell Strickland Collins, age 97, of Dothan, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022.
Born April 10, 1924 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Parley Strickland and Nancy Hall Strickland, Blondell was a member of First Baptist Church Dothan for over 75 years. She loved children and taught the 4 years old Sunday School class for almost 50 years. She was known in her neighborhood for her beautiful flowers and she loved gardening.
In addition to her parents, Blondell was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ralph Collins; her sisters, Verlon Strickland, Fronie Hall, and Mamie Everette; her brothers, Willie Strickland, Jessee Strickland, Yancy Strickland, Raymond Strickland, Damond Strickland, and Carthell Strickland.
She is survived by her son, Stan Collins; her daughters, Glenda Heney and Wanda Parrish (Bill); her 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, February 11, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Taylor Rutland and Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Music Ministry @ First Baptist Church Dothan, 300 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301; Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303; or the charity of your choice.
