Mrs. Bonnie Jean Palmer Cofer, a resident of Ariton, went home to be with our Lord Monday, November 8, 2021, at her home. She was 96 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cofer will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 12, 2021, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Dave Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home in Ozark from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Cofer was born September 21, 1925 in Hoffman, Oklahoma to the late Thomas Lester Palmer and Della Thomas Palmer. Mrs. Cofer played basketball in high school and was going to school for nursing when she met Douglas Cofer who became the love of her life. They got married, went to a movie and then he shipped out for military service. She welded Liberty Ships during World War II “Rosie The Riveter”. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Throughout her life she loved being with family, boating, camping, horseback riding and trips to beaches. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Lamar Cofer; one son, Dwight Cofer; three sisters, Mildred Prewitt, Alene Dore and Ronna Hall; one brother, Thomas Palmer; and one great granddaughter, Ella Claire Quinn.
She left behind her daughter, Carol Wrinn (Mark); one son, Ron Cofer (Lisa); one sister, Betty Ward; grandchildren, Tiffany Cofer, Cyndi Schobinger, Martin Wrinn, Dusty Thomas, Sandy Quinn, Victor Wrinn, Christen Newman and Jennifer Cofer. Twelve great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.
