Carol Jean Pearson Monroe, 68-years-old, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. After her recent diagnosis with ALS, Carol lived every day to the fullest—praying for the Lord to heal her from this debilitating disease. We are so thankful that He answered her prayers!

Carol was born on January 24, 1950 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Clifford and Jane Pearson. The family moved to Pascagoula, MS, where Carol was raised. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Paul Monroe. They would have been married 46 years this May. They had two daughters, Carly and Brittany, while living in Pascagoula. In 1996, they moved to beautiful Fairhope, AL, where Carol and Paul enjoyed many unforgettable sunsets, jubilees, and walks along the pier. In 2002, they moved to Gulf Shores, AL, on Bon Secour River and Carol found her paradise. She was able to wake up to the dolphins, fish as often as she wanted, and entertain her guests on her back porch overlooking the water.

Known for her unwavering and ever-strengthening faith in Christ, love for her family (especially her grandbabies) and friends, saltwater fishing, passion for music and concerts, entertaining friends and family in their home, her appreciation of nature and all of God’s creations, and her unique ability of making everyone she met feel special. Carol was the most positive, compassionate, loving soul who shaped her family’s spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Carol had an extraordinary zest for life; everyone that knew Carol would agree.

Carol is survived by her adoring husband, Paul Monroe; two daughters, Carly Monroe of Atlanta, GA, and Brittany (Matthew) Curry of Dothan, AL; her three grandchildren, Brogan Barth, Monroe Curry and Ladner Curry; and sisters, Ann (James) Caudle of Huntsville, AL, and Diane Pearson of Foley, AL.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 10th, 2018, from 2-3 pm at Coastal Church—11101 Co. Rd. 64, Daphne, AL 36526. Reverend Chad Stafford will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Carol’s name to The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter – www.alsa.org.

Carol and Paul moved to Dothan, Alabama, in November 2017 for family support and medical treatment. Carol was blessed to not suffer in her passing; she was surrounded by all of her family and lots of love when she entered Heaven’s gates.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually.
