(February 6, 1936 – September 2, 2024)

CAROL TUCKER “TUCKIE” CAMPBELL ARD, age 88, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024  in  Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Dothan, Alabama.

Born February 6, 1936, in Winchester, Virginia, Tuckie was the eldest (by 20 minutes) of twin daughters to the late Carroll Edward Campbell and late Martha “Foffee” Elliott Tucker Campbell.  In her early years, Tuckie lived on the family farm, called Clayhill Farm, and enjoyed playing in the hay in the upper loft of the barn and dancing ballet with her mother and twin sister until around 15 years old.  In 1959, she graduated from Shepherd College with a Bachelor of Science degree and enjoyed teaching elementary students -- the 4th and 5th graders were her favorite.

In the early 1960’s, Tuckie met and married the love of her life, the late Dale Ard, at the U.S. Military base in Munich, Germany, where both were stationed, he as an U.S. Airforce mechanic and she as conscripted teacher by the military for the American school.  Upon returning to the U.S., The Ards lived in Las Vegas, then Chipley, Florida before coming to in Dothan, Alabama, in 2009 where she lived out her life.  They enjoyed over 45 beautiful years of marriage until Dale’s death in 2010 and gratefully they are together again.

Daughter, sister, niece, wife, step-mother, aunt, great aunt, and educator, Tuckie was a gracious and loving women whose soft southern voice, warm heart, bright eyes, and stunning smile could light up any room.  Friendly and positive to everyone, Tuckie was endeared in the hearts of all who knew her.  She is greatly loved and will be missed immensely by her daughter Yvette Marie Kelley of Las Cruces, New Mexico, her twin Sister Elizabeth “Bebe” Bland Campbell Dellinger and Niece Leslie Ann Dellinger Aceituno, both of Miami, Florida.

She is also survived by her stepson, Anthony Michael Seelbach and Wife Sandie Ruidoso, New Mexico; Niece Carol Lynn Dellinger and great niece (Carol Lynn’s) daughter, Lauren Armstrong, both of Falls Church, Virginia, as well as her Great Nephew (Leslie’s son) Lawrence Tucker Aceituno of Miami, Florida.  In addition to her parents and husband, Tuckie was pre-deceased by her Aunt Charlotte Catherine Campbell, Aunt Elizabeth Bland Tucker, and her Nephew (Bebe’s son) David Bland Dellinger, as well as several cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2 P.M. in the Memory Hill Cemetery, 2414 Hartford Hwy in Dothan.  Ward-Wilson Memory Hill of Dothan overseeing the arrangements
