Mrs. Carolyn Jones Saunders
Mrs. Carolyn Jones Saunders, devoted wife, loving mother and “MeMe”, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday June 22, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker and Rev. Coley Meyer Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to the Malvern Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 97, Malvern, AL 36349.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Saunders was born in Houston County on November 26, 1940, to the late Coley “Bud” and Adell Green Jones. She was married to Roy Saunders, her loving husband of over 53 years and they resided in the town of Malvern. Mrs. Saunders retired after twenty five years of service from the Geneva County School System in 2001 where she worked at Slocomb High School.
In addition to her parents, sisters: Geraldine Marchman and husband James, Inez Purvis and husband Raymond and Frances Hallford; brothers: Coleman Jones, Alonzo Jones and wife Jeanette, and Lamar Jones and wife Eula all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Saunders, Malvern; two sons: Wayne Saunders (Krista), Dothan and Jason Saunders (Carol), Hartford; sisters: Hazel Trawick (William Earl), Merline Faulk ( David) and Linda Martin (Johnny); brother, Buddy Jones (Janice); sister-in-law Sabie Suggs (Mack); brothers-in-law: Carl Hallford and Paul Saunders; two grandchildren: Cole and Kyleigh Grace Saunders; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Pall bearers will include Mrs. Saunders many nephews.
