Mrs. Catherine Anne Locklin, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, after a long battle with cancer.
A celebration of her new eternal life will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Thursday, April 26, 2012, with Dr. Bradley Rushing and Reverend Henry Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 A.M.
Mrs. Locklin was born in Panama City, Florida in 1952, 2 months premature. From the start of her life, it was evident that God’s hand was upon her. She married her sweetheart John, in 1971 and they were blessed with three children. After raising her children, Cathy served as the Music Secretary at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She loved her work and served faithfully for 6 years until January, when her cancer forced her to resign. The only thing more important than her family was her relationship with Jesus. Throughout her life, she impressed on everyone who knew her an exceptional representation of God’s grace and love. Throughout her struggle with cancer, she allowed God to use her life to bring glory and honor to Him. What she desired more than anything was for her Lifesong to sing for Him.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 41 years, John B. Locklin; daughter, Tressa Nicole McQueen (Jason); two sons, Steven Brett Locklin and Jacob Ryan Locklin (Lena Lee); Cherished grandchildren, Seth, Will, Grant and Molly Catherine McQueen, Claire Locklin, and Abbey Closson; Mother, Judy (Nobles) Cleghorn; two sisters, Terry Sidney and Janet Thompson; one brother, Michael Nobles (Sherry Nobles); Mother-in-law, Martha Locklin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny and Tina (Locklin) Barron; many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts; and a very special friend from Covenant Hospice, Lindsey Rushing.
Pallbearers will be Steve Butler, Bobby Martin, George Price, Mike Strickland, Greg Vinson, and Jim Whaley. Honorary pallbearers are the committed physicians who cared for her: Dr. Scott McAllister, Dr, Jon Holmes, Dr. Steven Stokes, Dr. Scott Magnusen, and Dr. Jeffrey Plagenhoef.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church (Walk Through Bethlehem) or Covenant Hospice of Dothan.
